Guyana Rice Development Board Central Lab Accredited

Guyana Rice Development Board Central Lab Accredited

On World Accreditation Day, on June 9, 2015, the Guyana Rice Development Board’s (GRDB) Central Laboratory was awarded its accreditation in the area of food testing by the Jamaica National Agency for Accreditation.

The Accreditation was made possible under a regional initiative called the CARTFund – Caribbean Aid for Trade and Regional Integration Trust Fund, administered by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) and implemented by CDB and the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ). It was also aided with technical assistance through the Guyana National Bureau of Standards, through a CROSQ initiative called the Caribbean Cooperation for Accreditation (CCA) Scheme.

Following the proud moment in Jamaica, a small ceremony was held in Guyana on June 26, to celebrate and mark the occasion with the staff of both the GRDB and the GNBS, alongside funding partners, Government and the private sector.
