The Board of Directors of the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF), during its 67th Meeting, held March 4th to 5th, 2026, conducted a site visit to the Dominica Geothermal Development Company (DGDC) geothermal power plant, which is currently undergoing its commissioning phase.

Representatives of the CARICOM Development Fund Board of Directors and staff with the Hon. Minister Vince Henderson, the Managing Director of Dominica Geothermal Development Company (DGDC), and the DGDC Third-Party Engineer.
The visit provided Directors with a firsthand view of the significant progress made on this landmark renewable energy project. The CDF has provided US$15 million in financing to support the development of the geothermal plant, underscoring its commitment to transformative projects that enhance resilience, promote sustainable growth, and strengthen energy security across CARICOM Member States.
The Board was joined on the visit by Mr. Fred John, Managing Director of DGDC, who provided technical updates on the commissioning process, as well as the Honourable Vince Henderson, Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy, who highlighted the strategic importance of the project to Dominica’s energy transition and climate resilience agenda.
Board Director, Nadege JN Baptiste, Head of Development Cooperation and Resource Mobilisation at the OECS Commission, noted:

Through initiatives like the OECS Geo-BUILD Programme and the OECS Commission’s broader renewable energy strategy, the Commission continues to strengthen the policy, regulatory, and technical frameworks needed to advance a cleaner, more sustainable, and climate-resilient energy future for the region.”
