Upgrade of the Champagne Beach Tourist Reception Facility

Project Overview

OVERVIEW

Champagne Beach, located in Pointe Michel, is a renowned recreational site and number one location for diving and snorkelling in Dominica due to the bubbling waters rising from volcanic thermal springs on the ocean floor. Deficiencies at the site include:
• Little to no visitor facilities and amenities .
• Low site attractiveness, which limits visitor numbers and spending.
• Poor visitor safety.
• Limited access to commercial spaces for local entrepreneurs and, therefore, reduced income earning opportunities.

The project constructs a multi-purpose facility that increases visitor access to recreational (e.g., via massage services, viewing gallery/lookout point, restaurant) and sanitation facilities (washrooms, lockers rooms, change rooms); and entrepreneurs’ access to commercial space (e.g., for tour operators, food vendors, entertainers, etc.).
