OVERVIEW
Working closely with national stakeholders, CDF’s strategic investment of US$14.9 million during Cycle 1 (2008-2015) and Cycle 2 (2016-2023) and US $ 5.7 million to date in Cycle 3 is furthering efforts to make economic growth more sustainable, resilient and inclusive.
Planned Results of CDF-supported projects in St Lucia
- Increasing Youth Engagement in Agriculture for A More Sustainable Future: Training 150 youths in agricultural production and business management, and providing access to credit and support to establish youth agri-enterprises.
- Tourism Diversification and the Empowerment and Increased Participation of Communities – Delivering technical assistance to 135 community tourism MSMEs across 7 communities (135,244 residents ) to enhance service delivery capacity; and physical upgrade of tourism assets in the particpating communities to improve attractiveness as a tourism destination.
- Access to Finance for SME Growth: Providing affordable credit to 263 MSMEs to finance innovation, growth, and improved competitiveness.
- Lowering Emissions and Improving Visitor Experience: The installation of solar lighting at Pigeon Island National Park to reduce the Park’s carbon footprint and improved visitor experience.
- Strengthening Business Support Agencies: Increasing the capacity of Export St Lucia and the Community Tourism Agency to deliver critical business support services.
- Enhancing Water Resilience: Upgrading the Patience Water Supply System and Theobalds Water Supply System providing 44,997 customers with a climate-resilient water supply system and reliable and safe water.
