Coco Plum Island Resort Explores Off-Grid Solar Future with CRAF Technical Support

Coco Plum Caye

Coco Plum Island Resort, a renowned private-island retreat off Belize’s coast, is exploring a bold clean energy transformation with the support of the CARICOM Development Fund’s Credit Risk Abatement Facility (CRAF).

As part of CRAF’s Technical Assistance Programme, the resort completed an ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audit that identified a set of tailored energy efficiency measures and recommended a 500-kW solar PV system designed to offset nearly all energy consumption and drastically reduce diesel dependency.

The audit, led by ESPC Energy Solutions Ltd., included on-site inspections and data analysis. It detailed a roadmap for the resort to optimize its air conditioning, lighting, and water heating systems, while integrating renewable energy generation and battery storage to improve energy security.

This technical assistance supports CRAF’s strategy to prepare interested businesses for successful implementation of RE and EE interventions through bankable project development.
