Belizean Dreams Resort, nestled in the heart of southern Belize, has completed a comprehensive energy audit facilitated through the Credit Risk Abatement Facility’s Technical Assistance Programme (CRAF TAP).
The ASHRAE Level 2 audit evaluated energy use across the resort’s operations and outlined specific efficiency measures and renewable energy options. Recommendations included upgrading HVAC systems, switching to high-efficiency lighting, and installing a grid-tied 80-kW solar PV system sized to offset approximately 34% of the resort’s daily energy needs.
ESPC Energy Solutions Ltd., serving as the Energy Service Provider, delivered the audit and technical recommendations, culminating in the development of a bankable proposal.
These activities form part of CRAF’s broader mission to increase investment in RE/EE across CARICOM Member States. The resort’s participation signals a move toward reduced operating costs and improved environmental performance, putting it on the path to implementing cleaner, more resilient energy systems.
