Project Overview
OVERVIEW
The strengthening of the Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) has improved MSMEs’ access to credit and business support services. But access to finance for start-up, growth and increasing export-readiness remains a challenge particularly for disadvantaged groups (untenured small farmers, women, indigenous people, and at-risk-youth) and MSMEs in emerging sectors.
The project targets:
• Start -ups owned by disadvantaged & vulnerable groups (including women, at-risk-youths, indigenous people and rural residents).
• Maturing enterprises with an innovative business model and good potential.
• Exporters, near-export, or export-ready enterprises interested in and having the capacity to increase exports.
The project aims to:
• Assist MSMEs to develop their businesses into innovative and growing enterprises that can compete in domestic, regional, and international markets.
• Support MSMEs that are facing economic challenges due to high inflation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and rising fuel prices, and other economic disruptions.
• Support MSMEs within the blue, green, and orange economy
