CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) Continues to Support the Government of St. Vincent And the Grenadines to Meet the Challenges of the CARICOM Single Market

The Regional Development Unit of the CDF commenced its first mission for 2018 on January 24, with the visit by a two-man team comprised of Mr. Lenox Forte, Director and Mr. Kyron Barker, Programme Specialist to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

This mission continues the active engagement with CDF stakeholders on the island to ensure that the benefits from regional integration redounds to the individuals in Member States. During the visit the team called on the Management of the Argyle International Airport; the second largest infrastructure project co-financed by the CDF, to assess its performance upon its first anniversary of operation.  Visits were also made to the Ministry of Finance and Foreign Affairs to galvanize activity and continue discussions for the design and management of the next Country Assistance Programme for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Under CDF’s First Funding Cycle, St. Vincent and the Grenadines received in excess of US$7.0 million from the CDF to construct the Argyle International Airport; the proceeds were used to procure excavators, trucks, a stone crushing plant, batch making cement plant, base laying equipment to construct the runway as well as, navigation aids and special manufactured grates to assist in the drainage of the runway and other sundry equipment.
